Friends,

Here’s a quick New Year’s Invitation video I shot for you — click through, or find more details at the bottom of this email.

Here’s the AUDIO for today’s note.

I used to think self-love was a nebulous, “nice-to-have” cherry on top of an otherwise disciplined, productive and high-functioning life.

But it occurred to me during my sit this morning that we really only have two options: to fall radically in love with ourselves and radically accept ourselves and our process of life… or to feel really shitty a lot of the time.

We choose to judge ourselves or be stingy with ourselves sometimes, out of long practice. Other times, because we think it’s virtuous. Still other times, because we’ve believed the lie that self-critique and self-restriction are highly motivational.

But the truth is, when we choose to judge ourselves harshly or be stingy with ourselves, we are placing ourselves at odds with the force that runs this entire Universe. Because our Source loves every hair on our heads.

That’s why self-judgment feels so bad.

Catch this principle: Self-love is not an indulgence. And it’s not a nice-to-have.

It is the natural state of things.

In fact, anything else is unnatural, meaning: learned.

That doesn’t mean that something’s wrong with you if you don’t feel deeply in love with yourself on a frequent basis.

What I mean when I say that any and everything other than self-love and radically accepting your own brilliant self was learned is that anything other than self-love and radically accepting your own brilliant self can be unlearned, too.

NOTE: It’s a total fallacy to think judging yourself will create discipline or motivation in the long run, but it’s also a common one.

(If that were true, don’t you think everyone would be thin? Doesn’t work that way. You can’t hate yourself skinny.)

I’m sharing 5 secrets for setting 2019 goals that do work in the long run in a LIVE, free 90-minute New Year’s Intention-Setting Workshop for Conscious Leaders and Creators on December 28th at 11 am PT, 2 pm ET and 7 pm CET.
